Juicy Steaks And Hefty Burgers Make Connie’s A Meat Lover’s Paradise

One of the neighbourhood’s best-loved eateries, Connie’s impresses with a lengthy menu stuffed with meaty offerings. Plus, the laid-back ambience ensures that you feel like you’ve gathered around a dinner table at home rather than a restaurant.

Shania Twain on the stereo, red and white checkered tablecloths, and a bar area studded with neon lights — that’s what you’ll get at Connie’s. To pass your time, you can turn your attention to the brightly-painted walls where reviews from patrons {written on bits of cardboard} hang neatly in glass casings.

We kicked off the meat-fest with Buffalo Wings. In our many outings to Connie’s, we’ve realised that the wings assuredly gets the meal off to a stellar start. A peppery spice rub is generously coated onto the wings and gives the dish a real kick. Their Pork Babyback Ribs are bestsellers here. And while we can’t fault the way the meat is cooked, we are not big fans of the watery sauce it comes drenched in. A more robust, sticky glaze would have done it justice, we think.

If you are looking for a pork dish that’s worth your buck, at Connie’s, we recommend the Super Pork Burger. We’ll be honest, this one is for pork lovers with a big appetite. The giant burger comes loaded with a pork patty, bacon, salami, and a fried egg. One big bite and you’ll get a mouthful of lightly-spiced meat mingled in flavourful sauces. 

We also recommend a dig at the T-Bone Tenderloin Steak. It’s a hunk of meat that’s grilled till it’s got a lovely smokiness. It’s then doused in a peppery sauce that does its bit to heighten the smoky flavour. For those of you who can’t stomach heavy eating, the Poached Chicken is a great option. The chicken breast is dressed up in a creamy, thyme-infused sauce.

Vegetarians! You are going to feel very ignored here {a handful of pasta and cottage cheese steaks are all you get}. For the rest of you, do remember that Connie’s is very popular so you might face a packed house on weekends.
