Anyone who’s had the pleasure of riding a bicycle through the night streets of Bangalore will agree that there’s a special thrill to be had in feeling the cool night air on your skin while you breeze through a mostly-empty city. You know what’s better? Cycling with company, of course. Here are some of the city’s cycling clubs that let you do just that.

Bangalore Cyclists Group

Founded in 2012, this group of over 3,000 members rides regularly in and around the city. They welcome cyclists by providing safe accommodation for cycling and encouraging people to bike for transportation and recreation. They even do midnight cycling rides as well.

BumsontheSaddle

Sure, we’ve listed them before, but Bangalore’s favourite bike shop is also a one-stop-shop for the cycling enthusiast, whether you’re looking for a women-only ride or a gruelling triathlon-style ride. You can even pick up your gear from their store in Jayanagar and attend workshops on how to repair your cycle.

Bangalore Cycling

This is more an informal group than a club, but if you’re in the mood for an unstructured, impulse cycling trip, head here and post your suggestion (for example, you could plan a women-only cycling trip on this forum). It’s also a good place to post queries and keep up with the latest in the cycling community.

Bangalore Brevets

Maybe you’ve been cycling for a while, and feel up to something bigger. In that case, the Bangalore Brevets are for you. This group of long-distance junkies make the most of the many challenging, scenic routes around Bangalore, with rides leading to waterfalls, mountains, and more. Check out their Facebook page to know when their next ride is.

Bangalore Randonneurs

Again, for someone who wants to up the ante. The Bangalore Randonneurs plan long-distance rides with pre-determined checkpoints or controls. You can check out their website to know when their next ride is along with the details of how long the trail is going to be.
