Bringing back the Gandhian love for handlooms, DesiTude creates jeans, shorts and other garments out of khadi denims, all hand-stitched by skilled local artisans.
A homegrown brand, DesiTude, a play of words on desi and attitude, has been founded by Siddharth Mohan Nair who’s an energy and environmental engineering graduate from Kerala. Their presence is mainly on social media platforms like Instagram (wherein they get their most orders from), and Facebook.
DesiTude is all about the pure handloom weaves aka khadi fabric, which is completely handspun. The raw material for the denim is firstly pre-washed multiple times to forego all of the colour-bleeding and shrinking that comes with khadi. Thereon, the material is hand-stitched to make those comfortable and soft Khadi jeans, perfect for your everyday wear.
The whole label from its garments to the delivery packaging, it’s all locally hand-stitched in Mumbai. The garments are absolutely ravishing, natural and hand-stitched with love. They use zero leather and their logos use the intricate and age-old art of block printing to embellish the logos out of khadi.
We’re also loving the spring colours of the whole collection, from the whites, blues and browns to even dark pastels. You can find shirts with elephants block-prints, skirts, dungarees, jackets and of course the simple beautiful jeans. The jeans start at INR 3,500 (inclusive of the delivery charge). Every order is customised to the preference of the customer from the colour of the denim to the size. It doesn’t end here however, as Siddharth goes all the way championing his love for everything Desi and natural. Every garment that is purchased off them, the label plants a tree sapling {our heart melted too}. Not just it, they also donate 10% of the proceeds to CodeRed, an initiative that gives underprivileged women sanitary pads.
