You don’t need to drive miles on a dusty highway all the way to North India to enjoy some authentic dhaba ka khana. We’ve got some fantastic ones right here in the city that’ll make you scream chak de phatte! So if you’re a homesick North Indian or just a fan of yummy dhaba food, this recommendation is just for you. Here’s LBB’s pick of the best dhabas in town.

Danny Lambas Punjabi Dhaba

For some authentic dhaba feels and food, Danny Lambas is the place to be. Hit up their simple setting in the Indiranagar BDA Complex, to load up on deliciousness like their Tandoori Chicken, Paneer Tikka, Rajma, Aloo Tikki. Their Shammi Kebab is another favourite and is finely minced and marinated for a few hours so you can really taste the spices and even the cashew in it. Vegetarians, don’t fret! Their Dal Makhani is very close to the real Bukhara one, that you can mop up with their kadai rotis and parathas. Read our full recommendation here.

Timings: 11am - 11pm

Other Bestsellers: Hariyali Kebab and Achari Chicken

Bobby's Dhaba

With a plethora of paratha options including favourites such as aloo, onion, paneer and methi which they serve with heaps of fresh butter and home-made pickle, it’s easy to see why Bobby’s Dhaba made our list. But you might only get a spot at their Yeshwantpur restaurant if you’re lucky as they’ve only got four tables. Scoop your buttery parathas with their house special dal makhani, or rajma masala or opt for a good old serving of kadhi chawal. Oh, and there’s kheer too. Want to know more? Click here.

Timings: 12pm - 3:30pm and 7pm - 11pm (Closed on Mondays)

Other Bestsellers: Shahi Paneer and Rajma Chawal (Jain options available)

Chula Chauki Da Dhaba

With charpais, cane stools and bamboo partitions, Chulha Chauki Da Dhaba makes us feel like we’re dining on the side of a North Indian highway. The dhaba has got an al fresco space as well as an indoor space and they serve up a storm from their kitchen with skewers of kebabs hanging over the tandoor. Gorge on gravies and kebabs, and wash all of that down with lassi and your tummy will be full and happy. Read on here.

Timings: 12pm - 3:30 pm and 7pm - 10:30pm

Other Bestsellers: Makhmali Paneer Tikka, Punjabi Chicken Curry

Manjit Da Dhaba

This Wheeler Road dhaba is known for their butter-soaked parathas and we’re big fans of their mooli paratha and paneer paratha, but their lassi takes top prizes and we’ll say it, it’s probably the best lassi in town. End your meal with their handmade gulab jamuns that melts in your mouth. And the entire meal will cost you less than INR 300 which is a good enough reason to shout balle balle. Read more here.

Timings: 12pm - 4pm; 7pm - 11pm Wednesday - Monday (Closed on Tuesdays)

Other Bestsellers: Paneer Bhurji, Rajma Masala

Dhaba Estd 1986

This one is the fanciest dhaba on our list. Dhaba Estd 1986 is quirked up with retro decor, loud Bollywood music, and serves rich, large-portioned North Indian lip-smackers. So we’re not complaining that they have two restaurants in the city, one in Indiranagar and Marathahalli. The Tandoori Prawns and Galouti Kebabs are some of my favourite eats here. And they’ve also got an all-out theka that serves everything from signature cocktails such as the Somras, Imli Bai and Laal Pari (a dhaba take on Bloody Mary).

Timings: 12pm - 11:30pm

Other Bestsellers: Balti Meat, Amritsari Kukkad

Baba Da Dhaba

Starting off as a delivery only food service, Baba da Dhaba now has its very first standalone restaurant in Koramangala, where you can enjoy dhaba meals and a dhaba ambience too. We can vouch for the Kastoori Paneer Tikka and Bhatti Da Murgh here which are both simply delicious or go for their combos, which they’re known most for. We recommend the Amritsari Combos that come with Paneer Makhanwala and Butter Chicken. Check them out here.

Timings: 11am -11pm

Other Bestsellers: Paneer Tikka Multani, Malai Chicken Kabab

Maa Da Dhaba

This little dhaba heaven is all the way in Yelahanka, but their food makes the long trip worth it. Start things off with the Anari Paneer Tikka or the Chicken Malai Tikka and follow that up with their mains like Kadhi Pakodi, Vegetable Pulao, Mushroom Matar, and Butter Garlic Naan. We highly recommend their Mushroom Matar, as well. Read more here.

Timings: 11am -11pm

Other Bestsellers: Tandoori Chicken, Dahi Ke Kabab
