Reopening after being closed for a brief period, Cunningham Road’s favourite bakery and cafe, Dolci, is back and how! Merging the two sections that earlier operated from the same kitchen, you can now look forward to a very Italian, rustic set up, that looks like a Tuscan home. Blue and white sets the Italian tone, brightening it up during the day, yet dim lighting making it earthy for the evenings. Vases and paintings dot the space, and cutesy wooden furniture adds to the cosy atmosphere. The bread counter offers everything from chocolate croissants and multi-grain bread loaves to focaccia and panini. Their menu, however, has grown vastly, with old-favourite still around. Here’s our pick of what you should eat at Dolci Version 2.0. Oh, and it’s also still completely vegetarian.

Nutella Chocolate Fudge Cake

Sure this place is known for their 6-layer chocolate cake, but for once, skip it and order the Nutella Chocolate Fudge Cake. A cake meets brownie meets fudge, it’s an indulgent dessert which is practically a meal. Not holding back on the Nutella for the icing, and in-between the cake too, we love that it also alternates with fudge for that added texture and yumminess.

Chilli Cheese Toast

Yup, that’s right. Good old Chilli Cheese Toast for the soul. Loaded with cheese and green chillies, it’s the perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon, or even a warm one to be honest {thank goodness for AC}. If you’re not used to chomping on green chillies, have an antidote on hand. My suggestion is the thick Oreo Milkshake. Works like a charm.

Bean Burger

I won’t lie, I did miss some meat on this one, but once you bite into the buns stuffed with veggies, tomato and the bean patty you’ll forget all about the salami! Cheese adds flavour and texture to the bread and bean combination, and it’s quite a healthy winner, despite the generous amounts of mayonnaise on it as well. But hey, there’s also cucumber. Makes it all fine, right?

Tadka Fries

Naturally, if there’s fries, it’s got to be on the Must-Eat List. Here they offer three options — regular, cheesy and tadka. And when in India, make it tadka. With added masala and spice, there’s no way you can go wrong with this.

Tabasco Pizza

This thin-crust pizza is simple and delicious. With a bit of cheese, tomato sauce, and sun-dried tomatoes to top it off, it’s really the heavy drizzle of the piquant Tabasco that makes it worthwhile. Pair it with fries and a cappuccino and you’re sorted, for life.

KitKat Cake

Sure you’re not a kid anymore, but you can’t possibly be too old for a KitKat and Gems cake. No one can ever outgrow that. Dolci’s version is to-order so you can get it by the kilo and unfortunately not by the slice. Three layers of chocolate cake, sandwiched with chocolate ganache, then decorated with KitKats and topped with Gems, it’s very worth the INR 1,300 for the kilo. Just order it even if there’s no occasion.

#LBBTip

Service is rather slow, and it sometimes borders on indifference, so go armed with patience and an appetite.
