How much of a Butter Dosa fan are you? My recent favourite for Butter Dosas is HVR(Hassan Vegetarian Restuarant) in Sheshadripuram. There would be a bustling crowd waiting for their Dosas on Weekends, from there arises the aroma of a Butter laced dosa or Doe-se.
I would fancy their Benne Khali Dosa or a set of two small Dosas made with white butter and topped with butter again with a small amount of Palya inside. When one has it, the butter exhilarates the flavour and then comes the subtle palya made of onions and turmeric with the slightest amount of potatoes. The Butter, when placed on the dosa, slides down and this is definitely worth a watch.
The Open Benne Masala Dosa is another delicacy where the dosa is made normally with butter but served open with a generous topping of Chutney Pudi or gun powder.
The other famous delicacy here is the Masala Idli, Idli batter is mixed with spices and Urad Dal. The idli here is made with Sooji and served with green and red Chutneys. The Rice Baath here is decent with added bread crumbs.
What I love here is that the Dosas are authentic and not given a touch of garlic masala inside the dosa.
