Read On The Go With Juggernaut, India's First Digital Publisher

Ahoy there bookworms on the move. This new app gives you access to a host of interesting reads that have been tailor-made from the core for Indians and mobile phones.

Yes, so many hardcore readers will frown at the Kindle and any form of digital reading. But if you want fresh, new, exciting and on-the-go, something’s gotta give. Or someone’s got to create. Luckily, co-founders Chiki Sarkar {former publisher at Penguin Random House India} and Durga Raghunath, both hotshots in the publishing and editing industry, decided that they’d move with times and egg us along too. Thus was born Juggenaut.in, touted to be India’s first digital publishers. And how we’re loving it.

Kicking off in April, you can expect as many as 50 fresh titles in genres spanning kids, lifestyle, literature and even business. The best part? They’ve been created specifically with Indians and mobile devices in mind. While digital is focus, Hachette India takes over for the physical presence. But you’ll have to wait till July for the hardcopies. Still not convinced? OK, how about if some of the titles include Sunny Leone’s Sweet Dreams, Khushwant Singh’s We Indians, and even Shyam Bhat’s How To Heal A Broken Heart? There. Welcome to the good side.

There’s some upcoming stellar crime titles such as Hush A Bye Baby: The Cradle Will Rock {Deepanjana Pal} and Zindagi Live: News Of A Kidnapping by Priyadarshan if you’re looking for a page turner. The lifestyle side of things has nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar’s new book on Indian superfoods as well as a funny collection of coming out tales by Harish Iyer, called I’m Coming Out. Tales from next door come in the form of Pakistan’s Queen of TV Romance, Umera Ahmed’s new book Nowhere Girl. If you’re a writer, then they’re happy to give your work a look too.

Here’s more good news – you can customise the screen to read against different backgrounds. They even have night-specific designs so your eyes aren’t strained in the dark. You can even change the font size, and the spacing between the lines. Now you’re pretty much skimming the words to get to how you can get the app, aren’t you? Currently on Android only, for users in India, the app will be available on iOS by next week. In addition, expect partner publishers like Westland, Duckbill and Navayana to come onboard for a massive collection of classics and other stories.
