For months we wondered what was going to come up at 1MG Mall's rooftop, given that on the few occasions we were there, we could see some work going on. Turns out, it was Juliet in the works. The latest entrant to Bangalore's line-up of rooftop bars and restaurants, Juliet gives off that luxe vibes starting with the stairway to the space that's all sorts of fancy with the chandeliers and the waterfall glasses. When you step in, especially in the evenings, you're greeted by Bangalore's famous breeze, and towering statue of Juliet and Romeo at the centre.
The bar surrounds the statue and makes for a great space to enjoy your cocktail while you wait for your friends. In the daytime, it makes for a spot to grab a boisterous lunch with the crew. Music is commercial (and not too loud) with remixes thrown into the mix, allowing you to groove along while you enjoy your date night.
The food is largely Asian small plates and something we love, but there are some local flavours, and global classics thrown into the mix. We started off with Gomae Uramaki, a spinach cream cheese sushi, that while it wasn't our favourite we could see how it's a great option for vegetarians. Our favourite was the Sichuan Chicken Hosamaki. We stuck to the Asian section and we weren't disappointed when the Peanut Butter Jackfruit & Inari Baozi arrived — flavourful and interesting. The Tangra Chilli Chicken & Cashew Baozi also got our thumbs up. In the dumplings, the Phoenix Eye Chicken Dumpling served with Laksa Curry had us going back more and more for the broth. We spotted Vietnamese Chilli Lamb, Korean Fried Chicken Bun and Kare Burose Ramen for us to try the next time we are here.
While we didn't drink anything high-spirited, we were recommended the Fueled Passion on our next visit. We stuck to our sober drink of Divine Delight, which was a delightful drink that washed down all the good food we ate.
