Shortcut

If small hole-in-the-wall places with finger licking good food fascinate you, then Sree Vishnu Thatte Idli is reason enough to crawl out of bed for breakfast at ungodly hour.

Must Eat

I heard about Sree Vishnu Thatte Idli from a friend and the description of  the super hot idlis and unlimited chutney was enough to lure me. This place serves only Thatte {Translates to a plate in Kannada and is larger than regular a idli} Idli, tea, coffee and badam milk. As an extra, some fried snacks are available to take away. These idlis are larger than the other ones we have had and the chutney served with it is simply amazing! Remember to ask for unlimited refills of the chutney.

What We Loved

The idli and the chutney of course! But apart from that, the owner and a helper run the show. The idlis are served on used newspaper and banana leaf, there are no spoons, so the place has absolutely no cleaning involved whatsoever. The kitchen area is as clean as our home kitchens, which is a relief coming from a place as small as this.

What Didn’t Impress Us

Use of plastic to make the idlis but again, we guess there is no other option. There is just one table so you might have to wait a little at times unless you are happy to eat holding a plate of idli in your hands.
