While the maker culture has been gaining popularity worldwide, the concept has also made its way to India, going by the few makerspaces in the country. With places that are well-equipped with tools and materials, these are spots where creative people can come together and design or work on projects. Workbench Projects
Bringing the maker culture to the city, Workbench Projects {the first makerspace here, in fact} was founded by Pawan Kumar and Anupama Prakash for innovators, designers and DIY-enthusiasts. Whether you want to develop a prototype or create a cool, new app, they have quite a few mentors, collaborators and partners to help you out. Makers and DIY-lovers, their Shopfloor with its array of tools {think welding kits, power tools and sewing machines} might seem like a dream come true for you. Want to learn a new skill or hobby? Sign up for one of their projects or workshops, which includes everything from tyre upcycling to assembling a bicycle. IKP-EDEN
A startup incubator with an in-house makerspace, IKP-EDEN {EDEN is for Engineering, Design, and Entrepreneurship Network} is where hobbyists and designers can try their hand at personal or work projects. From simple wood working workshops to ones on industrial design, there’s quite a lot for amateurs to try out, too.
