Milk Teeth’s Clothes are All Your Little Munchkin Needs

Milk Teeth is the newest kid on the block, literally, with its clothing and accessories line targeting a mini-me demographic. The Bangalore-based children’s label prides itself on its attention to detail, and is perfect for kids {and parents} who have a global sense of style, but prefer to buy clothes that are made in India.

Founder and designer Neha Celly is a graduate of the National Institute of Fashion Technology Hyderabad and a brand consultant for several clothing labels in India. As a parent, Celly always found that Indian clothing brands weren’t good enough for her daughter, and ended up buying her clothes either from high street brands like Zara, or from abroad. The desire to see a kidswear brand that was completely made in India, but with an international style sensibility, is what led her to start Milk Teeth with co-founder Jitu Mehta, who handles sourcing for the brand. Two years of development later, here they are!

Launched just a week ago, Milk Teeth’s online store has the cutest dresses, sweaters, accessories and more for boys and girls aged 2-5. The aesthetic is pretty great, with modern accents that remain appropriate for kids who are yet to shed their baby teeth. Their fabrics – cotton and wool, predominantly – are sourced from across the country and all clothing tailored in various parts of India, while the accessories are created at an NGO in Kumaon, Uttarakhand. Their attention to detail and high-quality workmanship will make sure that the clothes last for years, and, as Celly herself says, ought to be ideal for passing down to younger siblings and future generations. The silhouettes are simple with loads of classic style, so we really could see these clothes working even twenty years down the line.

What we like about this brand is that a bunch of the clothes and accessories are unisex. We’re in love with the Juggling Ball sweater in the picture above, as well as the adorable knitted crown that will get you some brownie points from your offspring. In fact, some of us {so-called} adults would totally wear the knitted bunny cap ourselves.
