What Makes It Awesome

If you were to ask us what would be an underrated spot in Bangalore that can guarantee a day of fun, we'd tell you it's the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium. We're not even kids (or have kids) but adulting millennials (and Gen Zs), and we realised this is one of those spots in the city where you are doing something fun that does not involve eating and drinking. The good old Nehru Planetarium is still a magical place that you must visit if you are in and around the Cubbon Park area. Whether you add it to your day out in the city or exclusively visit the place, there's a lot to do here.

The giant dome is the standout feature of the Planetarium building. On weekdays, especially mornings, the science park and the Planetarium are often filled with school kids who are out on their school visit and you can catch them learning everything there is to about the stars, moons, and the universe. We've realised the summer holidays aren't the best time to go since it'll be crowded but afternoons are perfect for a quiet day out. If you are an adult, you can skip the science park, but if you are bringing your little cousin or with your nieces and nephews, then let them play there for a bit.

The Sky Theatre is where all the action is. The 200-odd seater space has a hemispherical dome where the projections are showcased. The fact that the seating is done with a unidirectional viewing arrangement means, you can watch the entire sky and the universe unfold on a grand scale. Oh, and what's also great is that the quality of the projection is so good that it's almost like you are watching the real sky. They have multiple shows that happen through the week and these shows are in Kannada and English. Tickets for the shows are available at the ticket counter as well as on BookMyShow.

Once you are done with the show, you can head to the snack shop to pick some bites or to the souvenir shop to grab some art kits and art prints.
