Our favourite jet setting couple, Savi and Vid’s new home takes huge inspiration from all the places they have stayed in while travelling to the Nordic countries. We took a little peek into their Nordic nest and came back with a whole lot of insight on how to achieve that elusive balance between comfort, aesthetics and functionality in decor. Here are 9 Scandinavian decor inspired elements brought to you by Bruised Passports to help you make your modern, minimalist home dream come true. Read on to see what Scandi tips you can incorporate into your own space.

Pampas Bunches

The beautiful Pampas are everywhere in Savi & Vid’s home. In matt black spherical planters sitting atop the console as well as in large glass bottles in sun-soaked corners of the house. Adding a generous dose of texture and richness to any space you put them in. We found you a similar glass bottle vase (with macrame detailing) from Urbaine Decor, that these plumes will go so well with. Pro Tip: Always use flower stems in groups of odd numbers to be on point with aesthetics.

Functional Decor

Scandinavian interior design is all about simple designs, clean lines and functionality. You need fuss-free useful objects that also double up as decor. We love how the Bruised Passports couple has smartly invested in everyday functional objects from Studio Saswata, that are pieces of decor in itself. Like the white marble and gold coasters. Check out Studio Saswata’s Urbane Collection which includes everything from candle holders, wall clocks to beautiful condiment servers, coasters, and serving bowls. Our pick? This set of tealight pillars in brass and white.

Knitted Throws

Chunky knit throws are a must-have in Scandinavian homes. While it’s mostly to do with the colder climate but even in a tropical weather like ours, this decor trend looks incomplete without it. You will often spot these large knit blankets lying casually on the sofa or tossed at the edge of the bed. Savi & Vid seem to be in love with the tasseled throws from Sashaa World. We found you another cozier option on LBB Shop. Check out Cazimo’s cotton knitted throw in ivory and thank us later.

Round Mirrors

Round sleek mirrors are modern minimalism at its best. While shopping for a dressing table, Savi & Vid saw so much pink and velvet that they immediately decided to have neither of those colours. Instead they opted for a classic Scandi monochromatic look with a large-ish round mirror with black frame. Want a mirror like that? Look no further than Mohh. They have a bunch of cool options in round mirrors. Like a hanging mirror with rope or leather straps. Minimal and chic. Another piazza mirror with a square wooden frame. A nautical one framed with thick rope. All available on LBB (yay!).

Table Accents

Savi has an awesome tip for us when it comes to shopping for table accents keeping the aesthetics of Scandi decor in mind. Upsizing is the mantra here. The idea is to opt for bigger accents than grouping together smaller ones. This gives a clutter-free, spacious look to the console. The couple went with Studio Objectory and Ellementry Home for a few sleek coffee table accents. Want a similar looking face planter in white? Check out Harla.

Monochrome Art

We are all for gallery walls but after we spotted this large monochromatic line art painting in one of the corners of Savi & Vid’s home, we were totally sold on the idea of ‘less is more’. Going Desi is where you should be looking if you want affordable yet amazing artworks. They have a bunch of options in line art as well as monochromatic art. Check here, here and here.

Rattan Storage

Scandinavian decor is like a harmonious combination of natural shapes, abstraction, and the use of natural elements. How can rattan be far behind? A little peek into Savi & Vid’s zen living area and we were in love! With the neutral tones, earthy textures, and the calm-inducing vibe. What really caught our eye was the natural fibre baskets strewn around the living area. LBB Shop too has some such gorgeous options in baskets you can look at. Our pick? This kauna basket with cane handles from All That Grass.

Statement Lighting

Scandanavian decor requires minimum window treatment to ensure a lot of natural light pours in. This decor style requires you to create pools of light. Concentrate on lighting areas of a room, rather than the whole room. This Fedora Pendant Lamp From Codedgami diffuses light through an origami structure, casting a patterned light around the room. The effect is magical. Lafayette Lights too has some cool industrial chic options that go well with Scandi decor.

Brass Cutlery

Brass is definitely the new gold! The handcrafted brass and matt gold cutlery we spotted in our fav couple’s new home is the perfect match for the delectable food they make. The brass finish has a vintage vibe to it. Check out Topp Brass for all things brass but with a classy minimalist update. Their products are a crafted blend of materials like brass, iron, steel, and aluminium with accents like wood, leather and fabric. Everything a Scandinavian decor demands. I love the uber chic napkin rings, door knobs, wall hooks and bottle opener.
