Virat Kohli is in Bangalore. Well, to be precise, after Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, and Kolkata, his one8 Commune has opened its doors bang in the centre of town, and how. Located in the landmark Rathnam's building (the one that houses Tonique), the space is three floors of vibes, views, and Virat. We got ourselves a table on the rooftop because nothing like enjoying that Bangalore breeze and cityscape while grooving to the DJ playing commercial music and more. We are told that there's a host of dishes that are Virat's favourite and we proceeded to order some of them.
The Tartare Topped On Avocado and Mushroom Googly Dim Sum were the first to arrive, and between the two the vote was split on which was the better one. The verdict was we'll order them both again cause what's not to love the crispy corn-sriracha-avocado combo and mushrooms-cream cheese-truffle oil combo?
We're told the in-house mixologist has some signature cocktails to try but since we were there on a weeknight with work the next day, we decided to skip on trying them all and settled for Ripple & Revel and Bramble Spiripz. We are told the Collective Quaff, a rum and gin-based drink with passion fruit, blue pea, green apple, and hints of Narunandi, is not to be missed. Guess who's coming back just for that? Between conversations with our host, just enjoying the breeze, and the lively vibe of the space, we didn't realise we mopped the Baked Fish Mornay clean off the plate.
We took a little tour of the space with the the second-floor lounge space being our second favourite spot -- works great on date nights. We called it a night with Textures Of Coconut, an eggless dessert featuring coconut jelly, chocolate soil, and coconut caviar. We definitely developed a sweet tooth right after the first bite.
Are we coming back for more? Yes, especially since we forgot to take one too many pictures for the 'Gram of the pretty space.
