Winning for

Equal representation of South East Asian cuisine, authentic rendition of dishes and a trendy Asian vibe.

Lowdown On The Ambience

Nasi and Mee’s decor is understated and very hip, with wooden tables, steel chairs, plenty of natural light coming from a glass front, a smallish bar and stylish lampshades constructed out of wooden crates. We hear a Singapore designer is behind the decor. A blackboard on a wall is filled with doodles and a quote by Julia Child. but what we loved is Nasi and Mee’s logo lit up with happy lights on a wall and the cool typography outside that announces the eatery’s menu in a nutshell.

What's On The Menu

You can’t hit a South East Asian eatery and not start off with dim sums. We did just that with the mushroom and crunchy water chestnut dim sum and Prawn Har Gow, a steamed dumpling stuffed with juicy shrimp. Both went rather well moped up with the spicy, umami seafood XO sauce from Hong Kong. The Xiao Long Bao, a Chinese style dumpling filled with hot, soupy chicken broth is what we enjoyed the most, savouring it slowly from a soup spoon. Their Asian grills section offers Satays, Char Siu and even Sambal prawns on skewers. A must-try here is the Indonesian Chendol, a coconut milk based beverage flavoured with caramelised palm sugar, rice noodles infused with pandan leaves and shaved ice.

Malaysia Truly Asia

The Wok-Fried Sambal Okra with Prawns, a Malaysian staple, won us over with its lemony tang, fresh flavours and crunchy texture. The stir fried Shitake, Tofu and Bak Choy Greens paired well with the Mamak Mee Goreng, a spicy Indian-Muslim-influenced Malaysian take on noodles. But we would suggest you keep some space aside for the outstanding Beef Rendang here. The slow cooked beef paired with coconut milk, chillies, lemongrass, galangal, garlic and shalllots is an explosion of hot, sweet and sour flavours. Dessert here is the old school fried ice cream: vanilla ice cream encased in a coconutty batter and deep fried chocolate banana spring rolls. No complaints there.

So, We're Thinking...

We are going to go back for the Beef Rendang and as much as casual vibe of the restaurant.
