Skip the common backless and boat-neck saree blouses and make a quirky statement with these artsy blouses designed by Parama Ghosh that are available at Indiranagar boutique Timri.

What Makes It Awesome

Using saree blouses as a canvas for her art, Calcutta-based designer Parama Ghosh’s collection of blouses are sure to trigger a flurry of conversations and compliments. Through embroidery, jamdani and patchwork, Ghosh has created a line of Parama Blouses that features intricate thread work on the back — from Frida Kahlo in her signature avatar with flowers in her hair to a Madhubani painting of fishes, recreated with applique and embroidery.

Working with textiles like khadi, ikat cotton and silks, these blouses are elegant and classy, with just the right touch of quirk to make them stand out. Apart from the Frida Kahlo number, some of our other favourites include the Orange Wooden Birds Blouse, which has bright green birds on branches, embroidered onto a bright orange khadi blouse and the Grey Ikkat Hibiscus Flower Blouse, which has an embroidered hibiscus flower on the back of an ikat cotton blouse.

Drawing inspiration from everything around her, you can spot an underlying Bengali theme in most of her work. From the fish motifs to the Gulmohar flowers and even the skyline of the Howrah Bridge, the City of Joy has had a big part to play when it comes to Ghosh’s designs. There are even blouses with Kaanbala earring designs, like vintage jhumkas, embroidered on them that celebrate Bengali art and culture further. These blouses are priced at INR 1,995 and upwards. You can find these blouses on the racks of Indiranagar boutique Timri and on their website here.
