Laden with spoonfuls of ghee or dollops of melting butter and stuffed with the goodness of veggies or even chicken and mutton…it’s just too difficult to say no to parathas (especially in the winter), whether it’s for breakfast, lunch or dinner. And, going by the options you get to pick from, there’s so much to try. Here’s our pick of the best paratha places in the city for you to check out.

Paratha Plaza

With interesting names like Forget Me Not and Sanjh Savera, the parathas here come stuffed with everything from aloo and gobi to peas and cabbage. Served with curd, pickle and a helping of mint chutney, their 50-50 Paratha (aloo, onion, paneer) and Dil Bahar Dil (stuffed with palak, peas, methi, cabbage, capsicum and cheese) are what you must try here.

Indian Paratha Company

Located along the Bangalore-Hyderabad highway (after Bengaluru International Airport), Indian Paratha Company is definitely worth the long drive this winter. Be it the simple Aloo Paratha or the spicy, mango-pickle-filled Achari Masti Paratha, this place gets a thumbs up for its yummy fare. Oh, and do try their Parathzzas which come with toppings like paneer mushroom and soya keema. All to be washed down with tumblers of lassi.

Kapoor's Cafe

What better way to start your day than with some whole wheat parathas? Keeping it simple, the restaurant has Aloo, Gobi, Onion, Paneer and even Mix Parathas. If you’re feeling particularly ravenous, their Cheese Parathas (six-cheese and eight-cheese options are available) might just be what you need.

Desi Vdesi

Pocket-friendly and tasty, the parathas at Desi Vdesi are a hit among regulars who flock here during lunchtime. Go for their Aloo Paratha, Sattu Paratha or the Mooli Paratha and pair it up with a glass of cold lassi.

Delhi Food Point

A tiny North Indian food eatery, the place might not look too inviting (so, takeaway may be ideal) but try the parathas here and you will soon become a regular. From good old Aloo Paratha to Mutter Paratha and Corn Paratha, the offerings here promise you a filling meal.

Parathe Wali Gali

Oh yes, Bangalore has it’s own version of Parathe Wali Gali, although it may not be as legendary as the original street in Delhi. Head here and choose from variants like Aloo Pyaaz, Gobi, Paneer or even Pizza Parathas.

Rishi's Paratha Plaza

While the menu here includes most of what you’ll see in Paratha Plazas, this eatery has quite a few interesting paratha avatars that might tempt you to give them a try. Try the Peanut Twister Paratha (peanut, aloo, onion and garlic) and if you’re feeling adventurous, go for the CCC Paratha (that’s chocolate, cheese and chilli!).

Price: INR 40 upwards

Tiwari's

Whether it’s the rich Palak Paneer Paratha or the flavourful Rajasthani Masala Paratha, Tiwari’s won’t disappoint you. Expect accompaniments of thick curd, pickle and chutney to be mopped up with the butter-laden parathas. And Kesar Chai for a perfect ending.

Price: INR 90 upwards

Laddoos

One of our favourites when it comes to desi khana at a budget, Laddoos has parathas with fillings like methi, pudina and ajwain. Their Paneer Parathas are a favourite with us although we wish they’d be a little more generous with their cheese fillings.

Price: INR 40 upwards

Mooch Marod

Touted as Bangalore’s biggest parathas, the folks at the small North Indian joint hold nothing back when it comes to making things bigger. Try the Queen size (15 inches) to sort out your hunger. For the adventurous, there’s King (20 inches) and Emperor (24 inches) options. They also have rich lassis in tumblers!

Price: INR 200 upwards
