No judgement here) or the picnics you had perched on that big rock, Cubbon Park is a treasure trove of good memories. What we love about the place is that it’s always buzzing with activity. From yoga sessions to cycling groups, the sense of community here is unparalleled and it’s a great place to make new friends. And it’s not just two-legged pals you’ll be running into here. Come Sunday and the park sees many cute doggos running about just waiting for you to ruffle their fur. Here are a few more reasons we love Cubbon Park.

Another oldie but goldie, this Frazer Town gem has been around forever. Perfect for long walks, lazy evenings and good conversations, it’s easy to lose track of time at Coles Park. The kiddos have plenty to do here too. With a big play park, complete with essentials like the jungle gym, swings, slides and horizontal bars, let the little ones expend all that pent up energy here. Plus, they’ve got a skating rink here and conduct regular classes too.

Lal Bagh needs no introduction. The botanical garden is a rite of passage for anyone who finds themselves in the city. With acres of sprawling lawn and a plethora of flora cheering the place up, Lal Bagh is an ecosystem unto itself. Their flower shows are like nothing you’ve seen before and you should be able to spot some pretty birds while you’re there too. Eighty five acres, a 4.5km jogging track, over 250 plant species and a gazebo, there are many reasons why JP Park has made this list. You can make a whole day of your visit here. They’ve got a rock garden and a Chinese garden to marvel at. When the weekend rolls by, they have a musical fountain show which is sure to keep its audience entertained.

A small and cosy little park, there’s always a cheery vibe at Richards Park. You can find a makeshift badminton court right outside the gate, where people put their best baddy skills on display. Make your way inside and its the perfect spot for a nice walk or to curl up on the benches with a good book. It’s a great place to people watch too. Plus, Happy Belly Bakes is right there if you want to add a bit more sweetness to your time here.

Right opposite the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, the Indira Gandhi Musical Fountain Park has got a colourful visual treat that’ll leave you awestruck. Happening twice every evening, catch the show between 7pm and 8.30pm, and feast your eyes on dancing fountains, coordinated with a light and music show.

Spread across a one square kilometer space, Jayamahal Park is a great spot for a nice morning jog. The landscaped space makes for a pleasant run, and a crisscross joggers’ track means you can modify your route each time. A great place to take the kiddos as they have a play area with swings, slides, tunnels and seesaws, the open space is always welcoming, morning or evening. 

Situated on Rashtriya Vidyalaya Road in Jayanagar, this park is right in the middle of all the action. A big space, Ranadheera Kanteerava Park has got a nice jogging track for your leisurely strolls. But what takes the cake here is the kids play area. Nice and colourful, big fruit-shaped benches modelled after apples and watermelon only add to its charm. And they’ve got gazebos to get inside and enjoy the nippy weather in.
