Pick up a pencil, grab a chai – Pencil and Chai Gurukul Jayanagar, has art courses that shape and develop budding artists in the city, with their outdoor learning.

Pencil and Chai is a fine arts school that offers art courses to rookies and amateurs who want to hone their skills. Founded under the Colouring India School and Studio in 2013, the school hosts indoor weekdays painting classes and outdoor weekend sketching sessions.

Refine your technique and skill while exchanging ideas with strangers. Breakaway from concrete buildings and the conventional four walls education to spend time letting your creative juices flow amidst nature. Sign up to their weekday classes as a hobby or skill you want to hone along with your regular work. Gear up for their 3 months certified watercolour and acrylic painting classes and two months certified traditional folk art (where you unfold history).

If you’re confused about what goes down in these sessions, feel free to sign up for one of their demo sessions where you get to interact with the mentors and ask them questions about your concerns to improve sketching and painting skills. Attend lectures and get a ballpark idea of the theory lessons as well. All this starting at only INR 500, we think this is a great way for you to vent out all that traffic jam frustration and turn it into a beautiful painting (that you could even take home!).
