'Saudade' (saw-daadh) is a word in Portuguese that may not have a bang on, literal translation but the feeling it describes is quiet on the money, we must admit. It means longing for both an experience you have had or yet to have. Much like when you see a hearty ramen freshly made at a Japanese eatery on TV or the most pillowy, cloud-like gnocchi and wish you could eat bowls and bowls of it? Well, that's the sentiment Saudade, a boutique kitchen in Bangalore is delivering to every doorstep. The best bit? They let you be partakers of this joy by making it a do-it-yourself experience.
Co-founders Anish and Shreya brought together their love for travel and food to build this gourmet meal delivery service from the ground up, with a lot of care and thought. Everything on offer comes as a DIY meal kit featuring cuisines and stellar dishes from around the world. So basically, you get all the ingredients and components (most cooked), a set of instructions on how to assemble and the empowering feeling of having put together something absolutely amazing (most customers come back for the empowerment bit, shares Anish)! Saudade also goes so far as to add a specially designed magnet from each country the dish originates from as a memorabilia, like you would buy magnets after a visit to a new place.
On the menu thus far has been global favourites made from scratch -- so, Osh么gatsu Ramen Meal with fresh, hand-drawn noodles; Italian Ravioli Meal stuffed with homemade ricotta and handmade pasta, focaccia, panna cotta; and a Greek Meal with a mezze platter, moussaka, Greek salad, bread and dessert!
