A charming ode to literature’s {arguably} most loved detective, Sherlock’s Pub recently opened in Indiranagar with trademark dim lighting, peanut masala and beer.

Beer, Spiced Baileys, Smokey Whiskey

Winning For…

Sticking to its roots of being a pub, fuss free food, old-school drinks and 90s music, will have us going back.

Lowdown On Ambience

An upgrade to its former dingy {but delightful} self in Fraser Town, this one has the feel of a club. The bar is the dominant feature with Sherlock’s portrait outlined in neon lights no less, and as expected, the walls are painted with quintessential Sherlock effects – pipe, umbrella, magnifying glass, et all. Plus, a massive flag of Great Britain and the London skyline. There’s indoor and outdoor seating, so take your pick of booths, tables and stool. Or just hang by the bar.

What’s On The Menu?

Oh! How we love ourselves the unabashedly greasy starters, mixed cuisines and peanut masala. From bar nibbles like Nachos {with a tangy salsa}, Cheesy Fries {don’t bother if you’re weight watching} and Onion Rings {bring on the grease} to mains like Biryani, Fried Rice, and Chicken 65, this one is a throwback to when pub food was synonymous with comfort food. Don’t expect the food to be MasterChef quality, it is not, but go expecting spicy and varied. Schezwan Pepper Corn – fried fingers of baby corn coated in a spicy pepper and soy sauce, was great and paired well with the simple Fried Rice. We also like the simple Chicken Steak that arrived neatly sliced and doused in mushroom sauce, with a few veggies and a creamy mash on the side.

If you’d like to stick to starters as most visitors here do, then Murg Tikka – crisp outside and succulent inside, is a fine option. We loved the Chicken 65 for the fiery kick it gives, especially if beer is your poison for the night. Jostling for third spot is the Chicken Lollipop {which to us was a cross between a kebab and Chinese garlic chicken} and classic Garlic Butter Prawns, despite the shrimp being a bit small. They do have burgers and pastas, but we’d skip it and stick to Indian and Chinese.

Say Cheers

‘When in a pub, drink beer’ is usually our policy. More so when there’s everything from Budwiser and Peroni to good ole Kingfisher and Fosters. Oh, and Bira too, now! But if you’re up for some cocktails, we recommend Smokey Whiskey – a smooth whiskey sour with added orange zest, and the Spiced Baileys {our favourite} that blends Baileys and Vanilla Vodka with a touch of cinnamon.

So We’re Thinking…

Our go-to place when we’re tired of the clubbing, this one is all about chilled out vibes. Not really great for food, though a few things are lovely, stick to more common dishes, and don’t expect anything exotic.
