One of the oldest Durga Puja pandals in the city, the Shivaji Park Bengal Club also happens to be one of the biggest. Spread over 2.5 acres of land, the pandal was first set up in the city in 1922, attracting around 200,000 devotees every year. It creates an outstanding experience that one should not miss out on this time of the year.Like every year, the heart of the celebration is an eco-friendly idol of Devi Durga, and this time around, it stands at an impressive 18 feet height.
The pandal has a variety of stalls that cater to everything from food to fashion. They also arrange for additional safety against fires and rains which we think is pretty thoughtful considering how crowded it gets. We highly suggest you head here to attend the aartis and watch specially choreographed folk dances and music performances organised by the members of the club.
This year, the celebrations are expected to go on until the next day of Dussehra, that is 13 October, 2024. So, if you want to get a glimpse of authentic Bengali culture and celebrations, do not miss out on this!
