Chug On
Bangalore’s central district’s party and chug scene can get a bit overwhelming at times. So, when you need to skip the crowds and the long lines at the bar counter (and at the loo), book yourself a spot at the plush Spice Terrace at JW Marriott. The open-air space, complete with a pool, is a great place to kick back and enjoy a pint or two with your posse or even with the little kiddies running out.
Last week, JW also added a shiny, new brewery to Spice Terrace. And we were there to glug down a few before sharing our recommendation with you. The property has tied up with the famed St. Martin’s Brewery that traces its origins to an abbey in faraway Belgium. Backed by their expertise, Spice Terrace is now filling up elegant pilsners with a variety of brews. For those of you who’d like to keep it light and refreshing, the Abbey Blonde (with floral and spice hints) and the Belgian White that balances out bitter and sweet beautifully.
Guzzle Haunt
They also have the Abbey Triple – a strong, blonde beer that’s sweetened by acacia honey and fruity flavours. The Abbey Dark features notes of caramel and liquorice and there’s a hint of dark chocolate too. With this you can chomp on Indian dishes. There’s Lasoon Jhinga (King Prawns coated in roasted garlic and chillies before hitting the tandoor) and Makkan Roasted Murg (roasted chicken dressed up in cumin seeds and cream). For mains, you can wolf down plates of biryani with meaty curries. And finish up with their silken Phirni or their seasonal special – Amarkhand.
