Bangalore's street shopping may not be as extensive as that in Mumbai or Delhi, but it effectively caters to all our shopping needs. These shopping lanes and streets are located in some of the city’s most populated neighborhoods, serving not only everyday shoppers but also those looking for festive gifts. From trendy apparel to shoes, jewellery, and bags, you can find everything along these street shopping trails in Bangalore.

Jayanagar 4th Block

Though not as famous as Commercial Street, Jayanagar’s 4th Block has its own vibrant street shopping scene. From readymade blouses to summery sliders, you’ll find everything here at budget prices. We’ve spotted cotton kurtas starting at just INR 150 and ready-made blouses for around INR 250. There are also several stores dedicated to men’s clothing, offering formal shirts, t-shirts, and comfy hoodies, ensuring no one feels left out.

Take your pick from ballet flats, strappy sandals, juttis, and chappals in every colour. Some shops even sell sandals for as little as INR 100. Additionally, you can find extra fittings like tassels and ribbons to take to your tailor, adding a little something special to your clothes. Brigade Road-MG Road

You know you’ve found the right place for street shopping when you hit Brigade Road, located in the heart of the CBD, just off MG Road. From tiny stores selling export surplus clothing to affordable shoe stalls and funky jewellery (chokers and hoop earrings, anyone?), there’s plenty to choose from. Looking for cool sunglasses? You’ll find everything from Wayfarer styles to cat-eye frames. Brigade Road also features the popular Dubai Plaza, where you can score trendy white kicks, bucket bags, and maxi dresses—all on a budget.

Chikpete

The name literally means "small market", and what used to be a market with many street stalls, has evolved over the years into a bustling labyrinth of small stores selling everything from rare antiques and home accessories to greeting cards and fashion accessories. Not only do most stores offer reasonable rates (compared to other stores in town), but bargaining is also an option. The 400-year-old market is a popular destination for anyone who wants to buy things in bulk. Bangaloreans will tell you that they and their families get their sarees (daily wear cotton numbers, kanjeevarams for wedding guests, and even semi-stitched kurta fabrics) and coffee powder from Chikpete. If you want a complete lowdown of what to do and where to go, we've got a guide to Chikpete here.

Known For: Wedding wear, festive wear, suits for men, Indian wear, yardage, junk, silver, and gold jewellery

Timings: 10 AM to 10 PM

LBB Pro-Tip: Take the metro to get here, as there's a metro station right at the entrance of the market.

Avenue Road

Less than a kilometer away from Chikpete Market, Avenue Road runs from BGS Flyover to Palace Road. While we can’t point you to an exact store, if you love books, stationery, and art supplies (including beads, stickers, and more), this is the place to be. Students will appreciate that this is also where you can find guides, old editions of textbooks, student notes (great for college students), practice papers, and books for competitive exams. If you have time, explore the stalls and stores—you might even discover rare and vintage editions of classic books available for as little as INR 20!

Known For: Stationery, home decor, books, lighting, and clothing & accessories
