Is Pad Thai your staple order? Do you often order Tom Yum when you have a blocked nose? Are you someone who thinks everything needs a generous topping of sliced Thai Bird's Eye Chilli? If your answer to all that is a resounding yes, it's safe to say you love your Thai food. We know we do, and we've picked up our favourite Thai restaurants in Bangalore that you must absolutely visit (if you haven't already!). These restaurants dish our your staple Thai dishes along with a whole bunch that you ate during your trip to the Land of Smiles and now miss it.

Lan Thai

More than a decade-old brand (they first opened in early 2011 at Brigade Road before moving to their current location on New BEL Road in 2017), Lan Thai serves some of the best Thai food in the city. With a Thai chef at the helm, the menu isn't the adventurous type but you still get all your staples that don't miss out on the flavour and the punch. You're not going here for the ambience – it's basic – but rather for the food and the chef can customise your food according to your preferences too.

Must-Try Dishes: Larb Gai (Spicy Minced Chicken Salad), Som Tam (Papaya Salad), Pad Krapow (Thai Basil Stir Fry with Rice), Red Curry, and Pad See Ew (Stir Fried Noodles)

Rim Naam

The fine dining Thai restaurant is located inside The Oberoi and if you are reserving a table here, be sure to get a spot in the alfresco section by the waterside. The menu features extensive authentically crafted Thai dishes and they have a set menu option that gives you the best of both worlds. Even their cocktails are Thai-inspired with the gin-based Krabi coming highly recommended.

Must-Try Dishes: Chang Mai Meat Platter, Yam Ped (Duck Salad), Tom Fak Thong (Pumpkin Soup), Pad Kee Mao (Thai Drunken Noodles), and Kaeng Matsaman (Massaman Curry)

Nasi and Mee

The South East Asian restaurant is at three locations and its menu features a good collection of popular Thai dishes. You can pick up our go-to order of Pad Krapao Skewers and pair it with their refreshing Muay Thai. They also regularly do limited menus with the recent one featuring a Thai-specific menu that featured Pad Kee Mao and Pandan Chicken.

Must-Try Dishes: Pad Krapao Skewers, Pad Thai, Red Curry, Jasmine Rice, Pad Krapao

Thai Basil

With two outlets in the city (our favourite is the Indiranagar one), Thai Basil serves up a wider range of Thai dishes and they also focus on seasonal menus and offerings. Our staple here is the Thai Basil Stir Fry Chicken with Rice and Fried Egg with an Iced Blue Pea. The curries and soups are perfect for two people, and even their mains are filling to a point where you can skip the appetisers.

Must-Try Dishes: Tom Kha, Som Tam (Papaya Salad), Hat Yai (Fried Chicken with Herbs), Rice, Basil Chicken and Fried Egg, Pineapple Fried Rice, Curry Paste Chicken, Pad Thai, Red Curry

The Thai Chef

This Thai restaurant in Kalyan Nagar gives you the real deal here with a kitchen team serving up 'Thai spicy' dishes on request. The menu is typical Thai so you'll find familiar options with ease. Oh and yes, vegetarians, there are a lot of options for you that feature tofu and mushrooms. Plus, they also have Iced Longan and Ice Blue Pea to wash down all that spice!

Must-Try Dishes: Rice with Basil Chicken, Crispy Chicken Salad, Deep Fried Prawn Balls, Red Curry, Black Chilli Chicken, Pad Thai Spicy

Muro

The swish cocktail bar serves up small plates that feature some interesting Thai dishes, especially the ones that feature pork. They do it just like how you'd get it in Thailand – crispy, juicy pork belly. The Thai Crispy Pork salad is a favourite and we've been hearing that one ought to try out the Tom Yum Nuts – the perfect bar snack to go with your drink.

Must-Try Dishes: Thai Crispy Pork, Spicy Thai Chicken, Jasmine Smoked Prime Short Ribs, Barbecue Pork Skewers

The 13th Floor

One of our favourite rooftop restaurants in the city serves up a whole range of Asian food with a special focus on Thai dishes that Chef Gautam Krishnankutty of Cafe Thulp and The Smoke Co. fame has curated. The options are spread across appetisers and mains, so you eat your way through flavourtown.

Must-Try Dishes: Pattaya Steamed White Snapper, Thai Crispy Tenderloin, Thai Curry, and Pad Thai

Thai House

Thai House reopened at Indiranagar 12th Main and they have retained the menu and the chefs with the Pad Thai still as good as the one they used to serve at their old Brigade Road outlet. The space is bigger and more well-done and there are the usual suspects on the menu along with a slightly wider range of protein choices.

Must-Try Dishes: Pad Thai, Rice with Basil Chicken and Fried Egg, Red Curry Chicken, Fried Rice, Chicken Spicy Salad with Mint

Phra Nakhon Thai Cafe

The non-descript Thai restaurant in Koramangala is somewhat a new entrant to the city's bustling Thai food scene. The menu is template Thai but we did spot interesting options in the form of fried chicken skin and fried banana flower. Our go-to order on a few delivery occasions and dine-in situations have been the Stir Fried Chicken with Basil – that's how we judge a Thai restaurant – how good their Stir Fried Chicken with Basil is.

Must-Try Dishes: Khao Pad Kai (Rice with Stir Fried Chicken), Som Tum Pla (Papaya Salad), Yum Woosen (Glass Noodle Salad), Khai Luk Khei (Fried Egg), and Rad Naa Kai (Noodles in Gravy with Chicken)

Tuk Tuk Thai

The all-vegetarian Asian restaurant does a selection of Thai cuisine along with other South East Asian cuisines. You'll love the fact that if you've eaten your fare of meat-based Thai food, then vegetarian options hold their weight. The vegetarian alternatives include tofu, mushrooms, all kinds of vegetables, and soya chunks.

Must-Try Dishes: Nam Prik Pao Vegetables, Thai Yellow Curry, North Thailand Khao Suey, and Thai Chilli Basil Noodles

Thai Alley

Kammanahalli's newest Thai restaurant is more focused on serving Thai street food. They serve up spring rolls like you'd get in Chinatown, Bangkok, fried chicken, and a whole lot of stir-fries – all of which we fully approve of. We love that there are more noodle options on the menu and the Rad Na and Pad See Ew are what we've enjoyed.

Must-Try Dishes: Thai Fresh Spring Roll Chicken, Spicy Pork Minced Salad, Thai Omelette with Minced Chicken, Stir Fry Pork with Chilli Paste, Rad Na, and Pad See Ew
