What Is It?
Part of the larger, better known Green Path organic food store in Malleswaram, Green Path – Forgotten Food, is a cosy and casual dining space that is perfect for vegetarians.
Who Is It For?
All vegetarians who are constantly complaining that there aren’t enough restaurants that cater to us, this one’s for you.
What Is The Ambience Like?
Cosy, homely and with bright pops of colour on sofas and diwans, Green Path is rustic and stays true to its organic roots. Wooden furniture, hanging plants and a wall full of mini brass lotas, it’s sets the right tone for what’s to follow.
Must Eat
They have a rather interesting buffet on which is on a rotational format. It’s best to stick to that as it offers the best of the lot. Ragi roti is a hot-seller and the payasam — from beetroot to jackfruit, is next level innovation. For a la carte, stick to best-sellers from the buffet.
Tell Us About The Experience
Starters comprise a mix of steamed, fried or roasted food — think masala vada, raw banana fritters, bhajjis. Salads are interesting and draw inspiration from Italy {Caesar’s salad}, Spain {pimiento, cheese and tomato} and of course, aloo chat. Mains include many kinds of rice — biryani, mango rice, puliyogre, bisi bele bath, vegetable pulao on the day I went. Plus, red rice, akki roti, ragi roti and even a soya roti, to mop up curries such as Nilgiris korma, aloo mutter and a rather delicious dal makhani. Don’t miss out on the dosas that are part of a live counter. Desserts must not be missed — for the novelty, at least. Think jackfruit or ragi ice cream. Not my kind of dessert, but innovative no less.
Service can be a bit slow, and the food blan compared to usual Indian food, but if you don’t mind, then head over for a hearty veggie meal. Yes, non-vegetarians, you’ll like it too!
#LBBTip
Since many large groups frequent this restaurant, it can get rather loud. And the music is at a high volume too, so not really ideal for a quiet meal out.
