Ok. Let me be honest, I wanted a dog. But somehow, I ended up with plants instead when I don't have a particularly natural green thumb. Not gonna lie, I might have also had more than a couple of plant casualties along the learning curve. So colour me excited when I came across an app that is geared for plant-owning newbies like me - SmartPlant.
Available on iOS and Android, SmartPlant helps you identify plants, gives you tips on how to care for different plant types and also helps you add reminders so you can take care of them properly. If your plant develops a disease or is faring poorly, you can even ask experts what the issue might be via the app itself. It also helps you find the right plant for the right spots in your house. The app has a free, premium and pro version. For free, you get a limited set of features that are fine if you are new to plant ownership - care and reminders for 3 plants, 1 plant identification a month, ask 1 expert question per month, organise your plants (scan them) on the app and access a plant library. With premium and pro, you get additional benefits and less restrictions.
If you're new to building your own plant collection at home and want just a little bit of an extra nudge when it comes to taking care of them, you can definitely consider the app.
