Beat a retreat from the digital world at this charming little store in the middle of one of the busiest roads in Kolkata.

When you take the left from the AJC Bose Road flyover and walk ahead, you will come across Sparrow Publications – a small bookstore with wooden shelves neatly stacked with books and some lying in piles on the floor. They even had four seats where people can sit and read.

From a picturesque Beatles biography to a book about China, from a collection of WB Yeats to a book of feng shui, this store has a lot of collector books. A lot of the books will be tough to find online.

Tapan Dey, the man who runs the story is very helpful and can suggest any book according to the genre you like. They sell books at wholesale rates as well.

And what’s more? They also publish books. So if you a budding writer, you could go and have a chat with them.
