Gangtok is the capital of the mountainous northern Indian state of Sikkim. It can be safely said to be one of the most beautiful hill stations in the country. Gangtok is a breathing and dynamic bit of paradise of the northeast. It has an amazing view of Mount Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain peak in the world.
I visited Gangtok with my family and recommend you to stay at the Lemon Tree Hotel. My stay at Lemon Tree was super comfortable. The staff is very friendly and courteous. The buffet is quite lavish and serves a mix of various cuisines both vegetarian and non- vegetarian. The hotel has an activity room which has a special play area for kids, TV for movies, ludo etc. They also have a Spa and a gym with ample machines. They also have a private bar and a swimming pool where they serve barbecue and snacks!!
Since I visited them on a special occasion, they organized a cake and other birthday arrangements at very short notice. Taxis are easily available until late at night and are very safe.
In case you plan to head out and visit the mall road (M.G. Marg) I recommend you to try- Sass & Guff, The local cafe and Solpon. In case you are interested in sightseeing, the hotel can book a day or 2 days tour to visit the following places-
