Who doesn't fancy a brief respite from the daily hustle? Whether it's students wanting a break from studies, corporate folks from their jobs, or homemakers from household duties, everyone deserves a break. And what better way to unwind than by delving into your favourite book amidst the place that gives off the most amount of calm—nature?
With that being said, let us take you back on a short trip in the past. It was a cosy Saturday afternoon in June at 4 PM when a group of readers, both young and old, were found sitting under a tree reading books at Victoria Memorial's Garden. They were so lost in their books that they were unbothered by whatever was going on around them. That was the exact moment when the Victoria Memorial Reads was formed—a silent reading group helmed by Rajanya Sen.
Rajanya Sen's vision for a silent reading group was inspired by Bangalore's Cubbon Reads, where literature enthusiasts can unwind, rejuvenate, and disconnect from the noise of daily life. It's a place where all the book lovers seeking solace and serenity amidst the bustling city life come together to read their favourite books, surrounded by nature's tranquillity and the iconic beauty of Victoria Memorial.
This isn't your ordinary book club where everyone reads the same thing and then discusses it. In fact, it's not a book club at all. It's a community where you're free to bring whatever you fancy reading with no pressure to interact with anyone. It's just you with your favourite book silently in the company of like-minded people.
