LBB user Akanksha Shetty has recently added this shampoo on her quest for a dandruff treatment that works. She picked it up after seeing some really good reviews on Nykaa. “I have used this product for 3-4 washes so far and after the second wash, I could see that it’s working. My scalp is not as itchy as it was before and there is no visible dandruff.” For someone who was advised by her dermatologist to wash her combination type hair every third day, the piroctone olamine in the shampoo is getting rid of the itchiness. “I have noticed that my scalp can get a little dry because of piroctone olamine, the same ingredient that combats itchiness and flakes. So after washing my hair, I use Moroccan Argan oil. And of course, a conditioner just for my tips and the rest of the hair to get that soft and shiny look.”

After using another brand three times a week and still experiencing dandruff, she tried Selsun twice a week as recommended by the brand. And the results were evident in two short weeks. Having a combination of an oily scalp and dry hair with split ends, the shampoo would make her scalp a tad greasy in two days. That can be a bummer if you live in a humid, dusty, and polluted city like Mumbai, but would work well for anyone with a dry or normal scalp and better weather.

She has added this anti-dandruff shampoo to her frizzy and curly hair care routine for a year and uses it on hot days after she is done with travelling. This product has managed to reduce the appearance of dandruff after one to two washes. “It does give a cooling effect and also makes my hair slightly soft on the day I use it.” She loves the instant results this dandruff shampoo gives making it an occasional addition instead of being a regular must-use. Dinal advises using a good hair conditioner or serum to prevent your hair from getting dry after two to three days of using the shampoo.

As someone who doesn’t have dandruff all the time, LBB user Aditi Devi relies on Nykaa’s anti-dandruff shampoo. “I usually use a shampoo for one or two washes, and the problem is fixed, and my dandruff appears usually when I travel or hit up a cold and dry place. I have thin, wavy hair, and it's gotten even less with two kids! But this shampoo is my pick because it doesn't leave the scalp itchy and isn't harsh on the hair. In fact, I used to use Head & Shoulders which definitely got rid of dandruff, but also the shine and oils on the hair! This one does not. I reckon it is because the product has no chemicals and is paraben free.” Aditi says that it’s quite mild which can be both a pro and a con.

I have used the Biotique two-in-one anti-dandruff shampoo and conditioner several times, especially during the winter months when the dandruff flares up. The blend of natural saps of margosa and euphorbia along with the bhringraj and reetha makes it a mild anti-dandruff treatment. Since I have chemically treated hair that requires special attention, using this shampoo helps keep my scalp clean but hydrated. I use it once a week and alternate between this and my regular shampoo. It does take multiple uses to get rid of the dandruff for good, but then I don’t have to worry about it for a long time. One recommendation I have is to follow up with a good conditioner as it doesn’t do much conditioning.

The active ingredient in this product is Piroctone Olamine which gently removes dandruff. The highlight of this anti-dandruff shampoo is that it supports and protects the acid mantle of the scalp for healthy hair and stabilises the hair structure with the pH value of 5.5. “Since I have dry, thick, coarse hair, I avoid hair care products with harsh ingredients. This one gently gently cleansed my hair and scalp and removed visible signs of dandruff irritation.”

She has been using this anti-dandruff shampoo for three months now and has added it in her hair care routine twice a week. With wavy hair and a combination type scalp, she shares that the Matrix shampoo did not affect her hair in any way. The scalp feels cleansed and all the sebum is cleared out after every wash. The shampoo is enriched with bergamot which helps cleanse and regulate the sebum levels. Also, it contains Zinc pyrithione which has antibacterial properties, reducing the appearance of dandruff significantly. “The shampoo is mild and suited my hair as well as scalp type well. It also cleansed the sebum without making my scalp dry. It felt nourished.”
