4 Of The Best Farm To Table Restaurants In Mumbai If You Love To Eat Local

The information in this post might be outdated

A no-brainer way you can invest in your wellbeing is by making sure the food you eat is truly nourishing. While the definition of eating “healthy” is dependent on bio-individualism. We can all agree that eating fresh, local, and seasonal foods works best for the majority of us.

Local foods produce a smaller carbon footprint, are fresher, more nutritious, and also often more affordable than imported foods, or foods that can only grow in particular parts of our country. Mumbai’s seen a lot of restaurants that champion local produce, bringing us all the Farm to Table Experience. Here are 4 of the best farm to table experiences you can visit if you love eating local.

Banyan Tree Cafe, Ballard Estate

Legend has it that the founder of this restaurant walked past this spot, which was an old abandoned ice factory, and did a double take when he saw a banyan tree growing within it. The whole space is inspired by the ancient banyan tree making it the focal point of the restaurant. Every season, they switch up the menu to represent local produce grown either at their terrace garden, or at the farm they’ve adopted in Karjat.

Must Try: Their Fish and Chips (INR 490), their Mushroom Toast Open Sandwich (INR 230)

Price for Two: INR 700

Project Hum, Bandra West

This one’s gotten quite popular on Instagram, and we’re not surprised at all. It’s a fast casual chain, that has a slightly different vibe compared to the other places on this list. Project Hum has collaborated with farmers who grow fertilizer-free crops, the menu is concise, but it covers most bases. It’s a cute little spot that’s a must-try, especially if you’re trying to hit those macros.

Must Try: The Br-Avocado Toast (INR 250), their Souvlaki Wrap Tray (INR 430)

Price for Two: INR 950

The Table, Colaba

This Bollywood (and general celeb) favourite spot is iconic, and one of the first restaurants in the city to bring the farm to table experience to the city. The Table is bougie, but we know the food offers a certain craftsmanship that’s super worth paying the premium for. The menu is extensive, while the dining experience is luxe. They source all their ingredients from The Table Farm, in Karjat.

Must Try: The Ricotta Pancakes (INR 665) their Miso Crab Omelette, (INR 950) and their entire range of pastas, TBH.

Price for Two: INR 5,000

Sequel, Bandra West

Sequel is a nouveau spot that and has been sourcing local ingredients, offering farm to table food for a while now! Championing local produce, Sequel makes sure they source and cook every single ingredient on the menu from scratch. We read that their sauces, condiments, kimchis, and sauerkrauts are always house-made, which is something we dig.

Must Try: The Orange Sweet Potato (INR 530) and the Chickpea Tempeh Burger (INR 575). Finish with the Raw Cacao and Almond Ice Cream (INR 575)

Price for Two: INR 1500
