The culinary world has been constantly upgrading itself. One learns about various ingredients, recipes and cultures when they are a part of the food and hospitality industry. As a person who has been in the industry for over two decades and has travelled around the world, I try to inculcate my learnings and experiences into my work.

If you are a baker/cook/chef who likes to enjoy the gourmet experience at your home, here is a list of gourmet/baking ingredients I personally recommend people should always have in their kitchen.

With inputs from Chef Anees Khan

Elle & Vire

Elle & Vire

₹725

The most important gourmet ingredient I would always want in my home kitchen would be a very good 80% fat butter (Elle & Vire). These are premium butter made with the best of the milk from Normandy and give a superior taste with an intense flavour to any dish.

Valrhona Guanaja

Valrhona Guanaja

₹2384

Valrhona Guanaja 70% fat chocolate is my second most important stocked item in my home pantry. The best chocolate in the world gives an amazing mouth feel be in the form of a brownie or a simple mousse

Maldon Salt

Maldon Salt

₹250

Maldon salt has been my favorite since I started using it while I worked at Six Senses, Oman. Its soft white flaky crystals are free from artificial additives, giving Maldon sea salt a distinctive texture and salty flavor, which means less is required. Free from the bitter after-taste often associated with other salts. Its characteristic clean fresh taste enhances the flavor of all natural and fine foods.

Strawberry, Mango-Kaffir lime, Jamun, Sweet Chilli & Red Pepper Jam

Recommending this product is because it is in my homegrown product and it's one of the go to products where you can use it in any of your dish i.e:  Dessert, Bread and some shakes.

Berries

I am a big fan of berries and would always like to stock them up when they are not in season. It’s a good time to vacuum pack a kg or 2 of fresh strawberries. An apple and a strawberry tart with a hot cup of coffee would be a nice change during the monsoon season

Rare Wild Jungle Small Bee Or Kombu Honey

Rare Wild jungle Small Bee or Kombu Honey

₹992

I have tasted all varieties of honey & spice but the kind of nutri crate small bee honey is amazing as it's blasted into your mouth splashing the mouth with exotic and heavenly tastes. I use this product in most of my dessert.

Gluten-Free Keto Roti Atta

Ultra Low Carbohydrate Gluten Free Keto Roti Atta - 930gm

₹489

Firstly, let me tell you all that this is not your replacement for the regular wheat/maida Roti. Let that sink in, Rotis made from this ATTA will never taste like your favourite Rotis, but this is the closest you'll get to eating a proper super-edible flatbread. I prefer to call it a flatbread, as you can stuff protein-high ingredients like Paneer/Tofu or a meat of your choice, add some low carb sauces like mayo, and eat it like a roll. You could eat it with your favourite Sabzis as well.

Not an answer to your Rotis, but certainly a product that'll help you satisfy cravings.

Hemp Hearts (Shelled Hemp Seeds)

100% Raw Hemp Hearts (Hemp Seeds)

₹349

I love sprinkling these hemp hearts on all my foods and sometimes just eating them directly. They give a nice crunchy taste to all my dishes and taste amazing. I've noticed a boost in energy and concentration levels ever since I started consuming them.

Raw Jaggery

I have always been a fan of unprocessed,  free of chemicals raw jaggery since I started baking. This has been a replacement in most of my recipes especially my Banana walnut loaf.
