What Is It?

It's October and that means it's time for Durga Puja, Kolkata's biggest festival. The good folks at Monkey Bar are celebrating it with some of the most iconic dishes that Bengalis are sure to recognise. And noobs like this writer take a trip down some of Kolkata's favourite street food fare. On the special 'Next Stop Kolkata' menu are Beadon Street Fish Roll, Girish Park-er Shoitan Deem, College Street Hing-er Kochuri, Chitpur Road Chicken Rezala, and Tiretti Bazaar Prawn Dumpling. The dumplings are an ode to the Chinese migrants and while the Elgin Road Pork Momo is something of a must-try Kolkata street food special.

Trust puchka to feature in the drinks with the Puchka Paani Capriojka, a vodka and gondhoraj lebu and fresh mint concoction. Also featuring are Piara Peara, a spiced up vodka-guava drink and Thaanda Cha, a Darjeeling tea-infused cocktail.
