To reach this hidden gem, take the lane opposite Wonderland and look for Mahalaxmi Khaman Dhokla. This place is open only in the evenings between 6 pm to 9 pm. And if you hop into this lane around that time, chances are you won't miss it as there is a huge crowd waiting for the plate of Khaman Dhokla.
The Dhokla is fresh and laid out on the counter along with all the required garnishing ingredients. A plate of Dhokla costs just ₹40 and is about 125 gms in weight. You can inform the vendor of your spice tolerance level and he will pop out a plate that's just perfect to make your taste buds fall in love with this dish. The Dhokla is soft and the added chutney makes you wanna have one more plate.
While I just went there to try out their Khaman thanks to a friend who felt that I must try it, the vendor insisted I also try their Kutchi Dabheli. Priced at ₹20, this Dabheli is unique. It isn't heated on a pan with butter and then dipped in sev and served like everywhere else in Pune. But rather just served at room temperature. The bread used by this eatery is so soft that the Dabheli just melts in your mouth. Do try this out after you wipe out your Dhokla plate.
