What Makes It Awesome

If you don’t want to go too far away from the city, Lodhi Garden with its rustic ruins, endless green grounds with the tallest of trees and lots of pretty gazebos is your best bet for morning jogs, lazy strolls or super-fun picnics with your friends and fam.

We’ve been to Lodhi Garden numerous times but we’ve never managed to see each and every section of the park (because it’s spread over 90 acres!). Hence, every time we go there, we can’t stop being excited by our little discoveries.

Built over a period of two centuries by during the Sayyid dynasty, Lodi Dynasty, and Delhi Sultanate, Lodhi Garden has got historic gumbads like Tomb of Mohammad Shah (1444), Tomb of Sikandar Shah, the Bara Gumbad (1494), ducks and ponds, a number of gardens like the herbal garden, the bamboo garden, and rose garden, and so many happy doggos who definitely deserve some love (our work-drained souls could do with some pet therapy too). From the kinds of birds you can spot here, to the most stunning architectural ruins, there’s only everything to love about this garden.

Given the cleanliness, the uniform jogging tracks, and numerous fitness workshops that are organised at the Lodhi Garden, it certainly is a health freak’s go-to park in Delhi. It’s okay if you’re not the active type, because enjoying a relaxed picnic here is also a great option. Soak up the sun, enjoy long conversations (over hot tea and peanuts, of course), play dog-frisbee, cloud-watch, and experience the simple pleasures of life because that’s what the best memories are made of.

Lodhi Garden is open from 6 AM - 8 PM and entry is free.

Pro-Tip

If and when you get tired of baking in the sun at Lodhi Gardens, you can head to Safdarjung Tomb for more history or grab a bite at one of the Khan Market eateries.
