What's Happening

Mumbai's history is quite enigmatic when you come down to actually knowing it. And the city has a lot of enthusiasts who make that a reality by taking you on various kinds of tours. Amongst the many museums that we're blessed to have, Dr. Bhau Daji Lad is the oldest one. And Parth Thakkar, a professional architectural and travel photographer, is taking you to witness the art of symmetry at this museum, and hone your photo-creating skills.

This piece of architectural brilliance was funded by the citizens of Mumbai, when Dr.Bhau Daji Lad, a physician during the 1850s collected INR 1,16,141 from the people. It later got named after him. From 2003 to 2008, it faced massive restoration and it now boasts of strong character, with Minton tiles and old-world shutter windows. The museum has excellent lighting, several vantage points, and quite a few interesting subjects that make for a good composition.

So if you're a photo enthusiast, who also loves delving into the past to learn something new, you shouldn't miss this opportunity. For INR 350 per person, it really is worth it, because you get to learn the drill of architectural photography, and admire the aura of Bhau Daji.
