Umeni stands for art in Czech language. Thus, the book Umeni Therapy basically means Art Therapy.
To quote Tanvi S. Parekh {The book's designer!}, a little from what she's written about the book on the back, "Art therapy is a creative method of expression used as a therapeutic technique to calm, relax and de-stress the mind."
I was initially sceptical to try out the book when my ex-boss forced me to purchase it on Amazon for just INR 399 and start colouring. It wasn't long that my perception actually changed for positive regarding art as a de-stressing therapy.
What I really like about the book is that it isn't just mandalas. It has many other contemporary designs, Indian designs and something that everyone from the age group of nine to 90 can enjoy.
I found myself colouring the book when I was about to think creatively, when good and creative ideas were to strike or when I was simply exhausted. It helped me streamline my thoughts and often calmed me down.
The paper quality is really nice and I have used pencil colours, sketch pens, and crayons as of now and none of these made the paper to either tear off or have patches behind the design. It is also interesting that the days I'm not looking for a complicated design, I simply flip the pages to find a rather simpler one to colour in. This means the artist has really made this book keeping the consumers in mind. I'm yet to try out the most complex design of this book and surely will go up as my Instagram post once I'm done!
