Irisha Originals is a quirky new brand on the Pune market, specialising in fashion and home furnishings made in collaboration with local artisans and NGOs. We love their bold sense of style, and think they’re something special!

Irisha Originals {I.O.} is the pet project of Irisha Poonawalla, and in her own words – has been, “a long time coming”. A professional dancer for the past 10 years, Irisha has always had a passion for design – which she now channels into I.O. with the same intensity and dedication as she does in dance.

A combination of Irisha’s aesthetic sense {she designs, creates, and curates each collection herself} with the skill and expertise of artisans and kaarigars from across India, creates sustainable, ethically made products for Irisha Originals. She says her mission is to, “strive to make conscious choices in all our products and processes so we can enable and empower not only people most in need but also ourselves, by keeping handicrafts alive and being kinder to the planet” and we think that’s a super vision to put into action. Just 3 months old {the brand launched in Nov 2017}, I.O. is currently showcasing out of Irisha’s home – and you can visit to check out the collection by prior appointment.

We love their cute cushion covers, scarves, jewellery, ceramics, designer jute bags, and super soft, hand-beaded BodyCon tees. I.O.’s collections are made with limited stock, and some are even one-of-a-kind pieces that won’t be repeated – so keep them on your radar!

Prices range from INR 300 {for some ceramics and necklaces, cushion covers}, to about INR 3000 {for silk shawls from Sikkim and Bhutan}. They usually do pop-ups at art galleries, souks, and flea markets – so keep an eye on their social media for updates.
