When two French women met in India in 2009, with a shared love for the country and the elegant clothes Indian women wore, they couldn’t help but wonder why these weren’t accompanied by equally stunning undergarments. While most major lingerie brands are now available in India, Agathe and Caroline felt like a certain something was still missing: something in between the super reasonable, and the super expensive.
During the course of their discovering and unearthing Agathe’s grandmother’s French lace collection, their brand Agaline was born. With Agathe as designer and Caroline handling business development, they started with nightwear featuring sleek feminine night dresses, baby dolls, pyjamas and shorts.
This was soon followed by a lingerie collection; think luxurious lacy bras, g-strings, panties and boxers. The fabrics are all high quality, with crepe being imported from Italy, laces from Calais {a small town in France, which also happens to be where Kate Middleton’s wedding dress came from}, and cotton sourced from across India. The idea is to derive design inspiration from the Parisian era, and adapt it to Indian culture. They also have a trademark bow, which comes with everything you order, in different colours, and can be detached and added to anything, when you’re looking for that dash of femininity.
Agaline makes shopping with your girlfriends easier, with its Lingerie Showers. Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like. You can host a party in the comfort of your own home, with drinks and munchies, call your girlfriends and the folks at Agaline over, and shop right there and then. The host gets a number of freebies from Agaline, based on the number of sales made. Now that’s what we call a pyjama party!
They also have corsettes, shape-wear, body suits and garter belts. If high quality lingerie is your thing, we suggest you take a look at Agaline. They keep hosting exhibitions at various hotels across town, so stay tuned.
