Hungry And Stuck At Rajiv Chowk Metro Station? Head To These Affordable Food Stalls

So you’re at Rajiv Chowk, and you haven’t died. Having survived the nightmarish crowds, you’ve just realised you’re famished, or really thirsty, and you really need a break from the metro crowds. Here are a few places you could head to around the station exits for a quick bite and don’t worry, they’re not going to put a dent in your wallet.

Ram Sajeevan Drinks Stall

Around Ten years back, Ram Sajeevan Drinks Stall set up at the corner of Block-E, and has been offering brilliant banta concoctions to people in dire need of hydration. You get a variety of cold drinks in glass bottles, chips, snacks, and most importantly banta!

Kamla Chhole Kulche

For the last 22 years, Kamla Chhole Kulche has served its customers with affordable, good quality food. People from all walks of life have met over a shared love for food, right here. These guys are always chased away by the cops, but somehow they have survived. The lightest kulchas you get in CP, can be found here.

Madan Lal Ji's Fruit Stall

You’re a health nut, or you just love fruits. You will not find a better variety, and quality, of fruits in all of CP, than at Madan Lal Ji’s 47 year old humble fruit stall. You will find him, as generations have found him, in front of the W store. For him, the stores don’t matter. It used to be a bank, he says, and before that, it was something else; stores come and go, but he remains. Sit with him for a couple of minutes and you’ll get a brief history of the entire area.

NDMC Cafe

Right outside the Palika Bazaar, there is a cafe set up by the NDMC, which serves everything from Aloe Vera, Karela, and Ghiya Juice, to Sattu Ka Sarbat, and Fruit Chaat. Not only is this reasonably priced, but the juices on offer are surprisingly delicious. Along with this, there are water vending machines, where a single rupee can get you water, in disposable glasses, or for refilling your water bottles.

Trinath Chai Stall

So there are tons of wonderful chai spots to be found around Rajiv Chowk, and most of these are people and kids moving around with chai kettles, asking if you’d like some chai. Most of these people get chai from one spot in CP, right outside the Block A, Starbucks, there is a chai seller, Trinath, who over the last 15 years has established himself as an entrepreneur. What makes this chai place different is the unique chalni which is used by Trinath, and his nephews who run the stall. The chai will be prepared the way you want it to be, and he’ll do it with love. No person who comes to this stall, whether rich or poor, goes back empty handed.

V.R.H.

Names after three brothers, Vinay, Rahul, and Hitesh, V.R.H. has a wide assortments of cigarettes, cold drinks, and snacks. You can get momos starting at around 4 in the evening, and at INR 50 a plate, it’s the quickest way to appease your appetite in CP, which is known for its exorbitant prices.

Price: INR 15 onwards.

There are some street food vendors like the guy who sells great Ram laddoos, or the people selling pappad, right outside Wenger’s, but they are hard to pin down since they usually sit in the evenings, and move around quite a lot throughout the inner circle.
