Gurgaon opened its first cyber police station on Wednesday, 7th March, 2018, in DLF Phase V in a move that will hopefully help reduce the area’s harder-to-lock-down online crime numbers. The station, on the first floor of the police building on Horizon Drive in DLF Phase V, seems all set up with trained officials, and the necessary tech to take this on, teamed with a regular flow of inputs and consultation with cyber crime experts as well.
The idea is for this station to act as the hub for all online {as well tech-linked} crimes in Gurugram. The year 2017 saw 3,297 cyber crime complaints come in, including 1,916 for online banking and credit/debit card criminal activity {data source: The Hindu}. Here’s hoping the streamlining and segregation of a special, cyber-crime unit helps take those worrying figures down.
