What Makes It Awesome

Yes, I'm not kidding. After a long time spent renovating and reworking the menu, Taj's all-day coffee shop, Machan, reopened recently and they've upgraded everything. From decor to bringing back favourites from their original menu from 1978 (with the same prices as back then like the INR 5 Kona Coffee and Soup), I headed there for a lunch and came back super full and happy. Their relaunch has struck the perfect balance between the classic and modern so everything new still has a certain old-time charm which I loved.

I tried out a bunch of different dishes, all inspired by jungles and forests all over the world. I first ordered the Pug Marks, a mushroom toastie with a paw mark on it that was cute and delicious! I Also tried out the Mushroom On The Forest Floor which came with 3 preparations of shrooms and Carnero Barbacoa which was their pulled lamb soft shell tacos. For dessert, I got to try their Tiramisu which was boozy, sweet and had the perfect amount of coffee. You can't miss out on their signature drinks, especially The Number One, a gin-based cocktail served with elderflower and guava juice. To finish off my meal, I got the INR 5 Kona Coffee which they made right in front of me and with a splash of milk, it was super smooth and the perfect end to my meal.

I'm excited to go back soon and make my way through the rest of the menu (and forests) to try out their Indian selection of curries and the pastas and risottos from Italy. I liked how the items on their menu were priced really fairly with nothing being too expensive so it was honestly like a luxurious meal at more affordable rates and the ambiance with their huge windows and lots of natural light pouring in feels soothing.

Pro-Tip

They've also brought back their midnight menu which is priced lower than the lunch and dinner menus and has all the comfort food favourites like Fish & Chips, Biryani, Sandwiches and lots more.
