Punjabi Chaap Corner: Chaap Or mock meat is basically the best kind of alternative for vegetarians who wish to try meat but don't want to hurt the religious sentiments endowed on them. Vegan meat — also called faux, fake, mock, meat analogues, or plant proteins — are products that mimic certain qualities of animal-based meat-like textures, flavour, or appearance, for example. They are made from a variety of ingredients such as soy, textured vegetable protein, or wheat gluten, to name a few.
Sometimes despite being non-vegetarians, you do get intrigued to try them out. Such was one day when I decided to check out this eatery. Located in Indiranagar very close to the main road, this is a small outlet with two floors. The ground floor is delivery or take-away only whereas the upper floor is for dine in.
To begin with, I had,
* The Malai chaap - mild India flavours, creamy on the outside and slightly sweet on the palette.
* The lemon chaap - perfectly tangy from the lemon and slightly spicy.
* Then my favourite Achari chaap - smokey flavours added with a little bit of tanginess.
For the main course, I had the Soya chaap fried rice (trust me it tasted a lot like chicken) along with some delicious Tandoori aloo masala.
Ended my meal with the Gajar ka halwa and Gulab jamun. I would also highly recommend the Chaap rolls if you're considering quick eats.
