Paharpur Business Centre has green solutions down pat {they have 400 plants in their office!}. They also provide purification solutions for homes and offices.

Clean, green and serene

In view of the ruinous air pollution enveloping our beloved city, we set out looking for a way to breathe better and live cleaner. Paharpur Business Centre in Nehru Place is one of those places, started 27 years ago under the leadership of environmental activist, Kamal Meattle.

When told that Delhi was not safe for his health, Kamal started cultivating his own air! After a few years of research, he was able to produce clean air for one person for a whole day using three plant types. He has used the same solution to make Paharpur Business Centre, India’s healthiest building.

Different and making a difference

With 400 plants growing inside the office, the building’s greenhouse helps clean the air inside. The process involves using common and local plants in combination with a mechanical purifying system. The outside air is washed with a scrubber that uses water, to reduce the levels of chemical compounds such as nitrogen oxide, sulphur dioxide and dust. The 50,000 sq.ft. facility then channels the air into the greenhouse that removes formaldehyde, benzene and carbon monoxide, and then through a filter to remove bacteria. Phew.

And guys, no smoking inside, obviously.

Breathe easy

The company provides end to end solutions for air purification—starting with testing the air and then offering proper solutions factoring in the area and quality of air. They have a fascinating website that tells you the level of pollution outside and gives you the real time status of the air inside. 1,500 homes and offices in NCR have already gone the green way, including American Embassy School, Apeejay School, and UNDP.

We hope you’re going to be next.
