With temperatures soaring like crazy, it’s time to cool down with your favourite spirit. We tried some new tricks with our magic tonic of the season – wine {who can resist a glass, or well, a bottle} and this will set your drinks menu straight if you’re planning a house party any time soon. Also, no bartender expense. Yay!

Check out these 5 quick and easy wine cocktail recipes and be prepared for a house party that’s going to be both lit and legendary!

Apple Up

We want to give the white wine spritzer its rightful place in the cocktail world. To make it even more summery, upgrade the oft-diluted, lightweight drink with basil-infused vermouth and some slices of cucumber. Make sure to eat those punch-soaked cucumber slices!

How To Wine It?

In a pitcher, combine the wine, basil vermouth and apricot liqueur. Fill the pitcher with ice and stir well. Garnish with the cucumber slices and serve in chilled white wine glasses. We love preparing it with Sula Chenin Blanc – that has the right tropical note for this season. Cheers!

The Good Ol' Sangria

This is where you get to choose, white, red or rosé! A pitcher of sangria is one of the easiest things to make when you’re inviting friends over for a casual chill session with food and drinks.

How To Wine It?

In a large pitcher or bowl, mix brandy, lemon juice, lemonade concentrate, orange juice, wine and sugar. Float slices of lemon, orange and lime, and maraschino cherries in the mixture. If you like to keep things fizzy, add club soda just before serving.

If you’re looking for a classic red wine sangria, make it with Sula’s Zinfandel and prepare a cheese plate to kickstart your party.

#LBBTip: Try something different with Sula’s Brut Rosé and have a sparkling sangria cocktail! It pairs well with smoked salmon, brie, berries and chocolate, so now your menu is fixed too.

Mi-mosa Su Mosa

Champagne, wine and chilled citrus juice. Now we’re talking! This cocktail is all about a perfect combination of a white wine and sparkling champagne with a tangy touch. Usually a breakfast cocktail, this is one epic way to start your brunch scene!

How To Wine It?

Mix three parts of your favourite white wine, to one part of orange juice. Top it with some champagne {optional} – we love Sula’s Seco for that light, sparkly fizz with fruity notes. Garnish with an orange peel spiral. It won’t be long before your squad will be saying ‘more mimosa please!’

Very, Very Cherry

Make a cherry-licious surprise for your friends to add some spark to your party conversation. This one is going to get you “The Best Host” award fo sho! You can sip on the delish Cherry Jam post dinner as well, perfect with some dark chocolate truffles.

How To Wine It?

Mix cherry jam, lemon juice,  vodka and Sula’s Late Harvest Chenin Blanc wine. The wine makes for an elegant choice, as it has aromas of honey, mango and other tropical fruits. Combine all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with lots of ice and get shakin’.

Hot Shot Summer

The rising temperature demands a chilled glass of wine with some twist in it. We know this one is going to perk you up from your weekday blues and freshen up your taste buds. Make it a mid-week party scene with your closest friends, and catch up over this refreshing cocktail.

How To Wine It?

Blend classic red wine with lemon lime soda {we suggest you taste and pour accordingly so it doesn’t taste too sour} with lots of ice. Garnish it with a slice of lemon and you’re good to go! If you’re like us, chances are you’re making this with Sula’s Satori Merlot.

To make all of these drinks all the more smoother {and yummier} mix ’em up with the wide range of wines by Sula Vineyards. They’ve got a lot of early harvest wines out in the market, making sure there’s a drink for every kind of palate.

So, swirl, smell and sip!
