LBB is back with another #LBBWeekendOfAwesome and this time, we will trail through the history of Abids. Most people in Hyderabad are familiar with this major commercial centre, which used to be the city's main market area until some years ago. However, the location is one of city's most important places in terms of history and heritage.
Named after the legendary Jewish valet of Mahbub Ali Khan (the sixth Nizam of Hyderabad), Abids is home to some of the city's oldest churches, the oldest Irani café/restaurant (Grand Hotel), a branch of the Theosophical Society that's over 100 years and a Parsi (Zoroastrian) fire temple.
So, come and join Yunus Lasania, a journalist by profession and a pucca Hyderabadi by heart (who hosts heritage walks every weekend), for a walk to explore Abids and some of Hyderabad's lesser known heritage spots.
