Anu Merton Jha asked the right questions growing up, especially when it came to donning gorgeous traditional jewellery. Why should Indian jewellery only be worn in the evenings or on holidays? Why should it stay in drawers and bank lockers, only for an occasion? What's the point of a diamond necklace if you can't wear it regularly? That being said, she also believes that at the end of the day, clothes and jewellery are just stuff. They shouldn't cost an arm and leg (amen!).
To correct this age-old thought process and wear jewellery whenever and wherever Anu began her line of handmade Indian jewellery inspired by old crafts and techniques. She designs every piece after extensive research and travels to nooks and corners of the country, drawing from cultures, nostalgia, stories, and poetry. She also works closely with karigars from Jodhpur, Jaipur, and Bihar to create each piece.
Elements like kundan, polkis (uncut diamonds) and semi precious stones (more affordable than gold or diamonds) feature heavily. You can choose from neckpieces or raani haars, polki aads, earrings, tikkas, naaths, kangans and matha pattis. We want to own everything we spot but we have major heart eyes for the Ayesha Earrings with an antique finish, the Marwar Choker that is gold plated and the Crescent Diamond Polki Ring.
Every piece is only made to order and will take anywhere between three to five weeks to be made. Prices range between INR 2,500 to INR 25,000 super affordable for the quality of finish and design we personally think.
