Mark Your Calendars! There’s A Bellandur Lake Festival Coming Up In August

What Is It?

One of Bangalore’s most infamous lakes, Bellandur will see some cheer during the first weekend in August thanks to a citizen-led festival. Sign up for a walkathon, games, and contests are all part of the celebration.

Who Is It For?

Anybody who loves Bangalore and its glorious lakes and doesn’t want to see them vanish are welcome. It’s only half a day long and it will give you the opportunity to interact with other nature lovers and actively participate in the lake’s revival.

Why Should I Go?

In the past few years, the Bellandur Lake has grabbed headlines for being one of the most polluted in the city. However, the lake is all set to enjoy a new lease of life with 70 per cent of the de-weeding process complete {although there’s miles to go before it can be declared pollution-free}. But on August 5, the  Bellandur Lake Citizens’ Forum, along with lake activists and the BDA, is organising a festival to celebrate the water body and to urge citizens to come together to save it.

There are plenty of activities that have been scheduled. You can start off with working up a sweat at the walkathon. Then, get your hands by participating in the cleanliness drive and while planting trees. Cycling is also part of the mix. And so is a poster-making competition for the kiddies.

She’s got her Husband Charming, has perfected the art of sarcasm, is always fed copious amounts of good food, and is well on her way to self-actualization.
