If you've been thinking you missed Valentine's Day, don't panic. You haven't. It's just the BBMP and Bangalore Traffic Police in collaboration with Manipal Hospitals doing their bit to spread awareness about quick medical assistance in case of cardiac emergencies. Over 15 traffic signals in town now have red hearts instead of the usual circles. We spotted it at Minsk Square and the New Indian Express signal.

You'll also find QR codes at these traffic signals which connect you to emergency services by just scanning. That then connects those who can help (or those who need help themselves), to emergency services for instant medical assistance, including CPR guidance. It can even help call an ambulance, without having to actually dial a number. This is in addition to audio messages spreading cardiac care awareness. The campaign, which kicked off on World Heart Day on September 29, is aimed at making Bangalore a Heart Smart City, and we're fully onboard for this.

Just don't get too distracted taking pictures when you first see it.
